CONFLICT FREE DIAMONDS
At Michael Trio, we understand that our customers care where their diamonds come from, and we share that concern with you. All diamonds sold by Michael Trio are GIA certified and procured from only the most reliable and trustworthy diamond suppliers in compliance with the Patriot Act and the Kimberley Process. This is aligned with our brand values of sourcing from suppliers who meet the requirements:
- We have binding contracts with our suppliers which guarantee that the diamonds they offer to us for sale comply with all applicable laws and are certified conflict-free.
- We only purchase polished diamonds from sources which are members of the professional diamond trade.
Most, if not all diamonds that are imported into Singapore are actually already verified to be conflict-free diamonds. At Michael Trio, we definitely avoid sourcing from suppliers from certain countries like Zimbabwe, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, and Liberia.
Kimberley Process Compliance and America's Patriot Act
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2003 to preclude diamonds associated with conflict from entering the diamond market. All KPCS Governments must certify that rough diamonds derive from sources known to be conflict-free. To extend the KPCS to polished diamonds, the World Diamond Council established a System of Warranties to guarantee that polished diamonds derive from a conflict-free rough source.
